8-Hour DOT Hazmat Transportation Safety and Security Awareness Course

This course provides workers with an increased understanding of the risks involved in transporting hazmat, the skills and knowledge necessary for the proper handling of hazmat, the relevant requirements that have to be met, and the need for performing their duties in a way that will ensure safety of themselves, their co-workers, and the community.  This training is required if you are a hazmat transportation worker.

40-Hour Basic Hazardous Waste Worker (Hazwoper)

OSHA requires this course for workers on hazardous waste sites. The course includes classroom learning and realistic hands-on activities. Workers practice remediation and decontamination activities while wearing the proper respirator and protective clothing. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives a "40-Hour Card" (plastic card) that certifies the worker to do hazardous waste work for 12 months, at which time OSHA requires the worker to take a Refresher Course.

 

Student Requirements

  • Attendees of the 40 HR Hazwoper class must have one of the following in order to complete the class and receive certification:
  • Current DOT Physical card or
  • Dr.'s note stating attendee is physically fit enough to take a 40 HR Hazwoper class or
  • Medical clearance dated within 60 days of the class (such as a pre-employment physical)

4-Hour Hazardous Materials Transportation Awareness Course

DOT requires this course for all workers involved in the transportation of hazardous materials. This course also complies with the requirements of OSHA for emergency responders at the awareness level, which means any driver, dock hand or warehouse worker who might be the first to notice a HAZMAT leak or spill. The course teaches workers to identify hazardous materials, to recognize HAZMAT incidents, to protect themselves and to provide information to more highly trained responders. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives a "DOT HAZMAT Awareness Card."

24-Hour Radiological Worker II Course

DOE requires this course for all workers in areas with potential radiation exposure or radioactive contamination. The course includes classroom learning and realistic hands-on activities. Workers practice the use of anti-contamination clothing, respirators and monitoring equipment, and work in a simulated radiological area. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives a "DOE Card" (plastic card) that certifies the worker to work on any DOE facility for up to two years, at which time DOE requires the worker to either retake this course or pass a challenge examination.

16-Hour Emergency Responder - Operations Level Course

OSHA requires this course for warehouse or freight workers who respond to a HAZMAT incident in a manner beyond that allowed awareness-trained workers. The course includes classroom learning and realistic hands-on defensive response techniques. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives an "Operation Level Card" (plastic card from IBT) that certifies the worker as an emergency responder - operations level.

10-Hour Construction Safety and Health Outreach Course

Many jurisdictions require construction workers to take this course. It covers OSHA standards, electrical safety, fall protection and other topics chosen to match the training needs and job tasks of the workers attending the course. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives an "OSHA 10-Hour Card" that certifies that the worker has completed this course.

**If the student takes another class through us that the IBT issues a plastic card for the OSHA class will appear on the plastic card too. Otherwise only a paper card from the OSHA agency will be issued. Cards for CA are indefinite - no refresher required at this time.

Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives a "DOT HAZMAT Awareness Card." (paper card unless student takes another IBT class that gets a plastic card). An added element of Homeland Security is also included.
